Mattress Care Instructions
Intro: After investing in a quality mattress, proper care will keep it comfortable and extend its lifespan. Follow the steps below to maintain hygiene, support, and a valid warranty.
Section: Protect Your Mattress
-
-
Use waterproof, washable mattress and pillow protectors to guard against stains and dust mites. Barrier fabrics are ideal for allergy sufferers.
-
Important: Stains, soiling, fluid penetration, or signs of abuse may void your warranty and make the product ineligible for repair or replacement.
-
Section: Let It Breathe Daily
-
-
Each morning, pull back the bedcovers for about 20 minutes to allow body moisture to evaporate.
-
Section: Turn and/or Rotate Regularly
-
-
Standard mattresses: Turn over and rotate head-to-foot every 3–4 weeks, and weekly for the first 3 months, to help fillings settle evenly and promote even wear.
-
One-sided/memory foam top mattresses: Do not flip. Rotate head-to-foot on the same schedule. These mattresses are less prone to settlement because of the foam layer.
-
Section: Use Your Mattress Carefully
-
-
Avoid sitting on the same edge regularly and do not allow children to bounce on the bed—this can damage springs and edges.
-
Section: Unwrap Immediately
-
-
Remove all plastic packaging as soon as your mattress arrives. Keeping plastic on can trap moisture and lead to damage.
-
Section: Keep It Clean
-
-
Lightly vacuum the mattress and base from time to time to remove dust.
-
Do not use detergents, solvents, or chemical cleaners—they can damage the fabric and stitching.
-
The mattress cover is not suitable for machine washing unless the label explicitly states otherwise.
-
Section: Removing Stains
-
-
Blot, don’t rub. Use a clean cloth with mild detergent and cool or warm water.
-
Never soak the mattress; allow to air-dry completely before re-covering.
-
Section: Choose the Right Bed Base
-
-
Use an appropriate frame with center support for small double (4'0) and larger sizes to keep your warranty valid.
-
Recommended bases: quality divan bases, flat slatted bedsteads (with slat gaps per manufacturer guidance), and metal mesh bases.
-
Section: Moving and Storing
-
-
Move upright on its side—this makes handling easier and reduces the risk of damage.
-
Do not lift by the side handles (if present); handles are for positioning only.
-
For long-term storage, keep the mattress flat in a clean, dry environment.
-
Section: Filling Settlement Is Normal
-
-
Modern, more sumptuous fillings will naturally settle where body weight is greatest—especially in zoned mattresses. This is expected and indicates the zones are supporting you as designed.
-
Section: Do Not Bend
-
-
Do not bend or roll your mattress; this can damage the core unit and will invalidate the warranty.
-
Section: New Mattress Odours
-
-
A slight foam odour after unboxing is normal. Air the mattress in a well-ventilated room for several hours before use. Any residual scent typically dissipates within 2–3 weeks.
-
Section: Rolled Mattresses
-
-
Unroll immediately and place on a bed in a warm room for 24 hours before use. Most recover faster in warmth; some may take up to 72 hours to reach full depth.
-
Important: Keeping a mattress rolled for too long can affect its performance—open as soon as possible.
-
Section: Foam Softening and Colour
-
-
A slight softening of foam during the first few weeks is normal as materials settle.
-
Yellowing of foam over time is a natural property and does not affect performance.
-
Warranty Reminder To keep your warranty valid, always:
-
-
Use a suitable base with proper center support (small double and above).
-
Protect against stains and fluids with a mattress protector.
-
Follow the rotation/turning schedule recommended for your model.
-
Avoid misuse such as jumping, bending, or lifting by handles.
-
Do not remove law labels or care labels.
